I use Vista and I did not have any installation issues. The set up on the scanner was very easy. Popped in the installation CD, installed each program in the order listed on the pop up window, restarted my computer as recommended, plugged in the scanner, calibrated, and I was done. I scanned my document and the quality was excellent. Scanned documents can be saved in more than one format. I use PDF format. So, when we saw this product as part of the Vine program offering, we decided to test it and see if we could resolve some of the issues we face as we try to collect data.
The Brother DS-Mobile 600 is easy to use and as expected scanning documents, photos and brochures is now a cinch! The scanner also allows you to save your work in Adobe Acrobat, JPG or TIFF file formats.
It works by connecting it to our laptop via the USB cable that comes with the scanner. Highly recommend this product!

Initially, I was a little turned off by the price, but so far, it's been worth it. The scanner is exactly as the product description says. Installation took a couple minutes and so far, scanning has been a breeze. The scanner is not only extremely mobile (it's about the size of a three point hole puncher), but very durable as well. I've managed to drop it a few times it still works like a charm.
My only small complaint is that the software will freeze up once in a while if I'm scanning a lot at a time. I can't say for sure that it's not something with my computer, though, so take it for what's it worth.

The unit works fine for single pages, which it is designed for. I am happy with the speed, size and weight of the unit. It is very portable and fits nicely into my laptop back-pack.
The only negative I would mention is the paper feeding. I often find it tough with just one hand to feed the paper into the device. The unit will sometimes begin scanning without the paper being properly positioned, and you end up with a blank page. I would have preferred that the device say it couldn't grab the paper.
Anyways, for the price and portability this is definitely a good unit. -- Fine for pieces here and there
